FEEDING OUR CHILDREN
Zolani Faith Mission was in dire need of bowls, clothing, carpets, curtains and toys. We distributed these items to them in September. Special thanks to Greg Moran of The African Toyshop for the beautiful wooden toys from Kenya, Rebecca Bryer for the carpets which will be put to good use, Jasmine Lombard for the curtains, Bianca Klein for the children’s clothes and Elmarie Waltman for the boy’s toys.

Zolani uses most of the items that we donate and should there be any excess, these items are then given to the community. The township of Zolani in Ashton, comprises of 300 houses. I love visiting this township as the people are incredibly friendly, helpful, humble and great to chat to!

Zolani Faith Mission inspired us at FCIA to start a sustainable gardening programme from 2009. We intend to start gardens at the various schools that we are assisting. We believe that by doing this, we will be educating the children with a skill that they can take back into their communities which will not only feed them and their families, but could also potentially bring in a possible income for their communities as well. The township of Zolani has started the sustainable gardening programme and have been able to assist local farmers with produce that is exported overseas.
