A LITTLE UPGRADE HERE AND THERE

In June we decided to volunteer our ‘painting & maintenance’ skills to Welgemoed Primary in Ceres. This little farm school is really ramshackled and was in desperate need of a good paint job in the classrooms, new curtains and posters to brighten it up.

We also donated a wall clock, two-plate stove, plastic drinking cups and cleaning materials to help them. The children were drinking water out of rusted tins so from a safety aspect we needed to help them with this. They require a first aid kit for small emergencies which is an urgent request.

I would like to thank Magda Bester for the donation of some of the above items, as well as, to Durrel Gibson for his painting skills, Andrew Croxford for his maintenance skills, Tracey Kimbrey for the kind donation of paint and Veronica Burzelman for the curtains.

We had a blast painting as you can see from the photo’s! The principal, Morne Syster helped us on the Saturday and told us on the Monday morning that his pupils were awestruck when they saw the ‘mini makeover’ that was done.

Mission accomplished – making school fun to be at and pupils happy with their surroundings!
